Skateboarding hasn't always been popular -- it took decades of pushback, persistence, and blood to reach the level it's at today. Nowadays, kids all over the country skate both recreationally and competitively and skating is finally accepted by the masses.
Now, there's something new on the scene: electric skateboarding.
Hopefully, electric skaters won't have to deal with the same nonsensical cynicism that traditional skaters faced over the years. If you're on the fence about experimenting with this new technology, check out some of the various benefits of electric skateboarding below:
SpeedThe average human's walking speed is about 3.1 miles per hour. If you want to get to your destination faster and cooler, hop on an electric board and enjoy the ride. Electric skaters reach speeds between 12 and 15 miles per hour. Traditional skating is obviously much faster than walking too, but all that leg kicking can make it tough to generate energy over longer rides. Electric boards require much less energy and can still go faster.
ControlElectric skating offers much better control than traditional skateboards do. Electric boards can use a remote control to increase or decrease their speed. It doesn't matter whether you're traveling across smooth pavement or down a steep slope, your speed can remain constant. Conventional skating, on the other hand, is much more difficult to balance. Balancing the weight of your board is essential when controlling the speed and direction of the board.
Environmentally FriendlyThough traditional boards don't negatively impact the environment at all, automobiles certainly do. Electric skaters can not only ride these boards for fun but for their commute to work. The average person's vehicle emits 4.7 metric tons of carbon dioxide every year. Cut down on those C02 emissions and ride an eco-friendly electric board to and from work.
There is no reason you can't walk, traditionally skate, and electric skate all you want during your free time. Just don't knock electric skaters without understanding all the wonderful benefits. Wherever you're going -- enjoy the ride!
